Butterflies is finally finished and posted, I got sore fingers from pushing in steel pins, but it done, which is the main thing.
The 50 Origami Butterflies represent a life, which has been collected like a butterfly collection and preserved to be viewed and looked at.
The collection of butterflies inside the frame are all made from reclaimed paper, mostly insides of envelope, the do not add up to the sum of the man, collecting them cannot bring the magic of the man alive.
The single white butterfly outside, is made from a sheet of Fabriano paper, it represents the soul of Michael Jackson, which cannot be collected and is finally free.
“Butterflies” was also the Song the artist wanted to produce a Music Video for, it is hoped that one day this might happen.
I always wanted to make work, which would challenge me as an Artist, this work is conceptual, but I hope it is also accessible to the viewer also.

50 Origami Butterflies
29th October 2009
I’ve just folded 50 origami butterflies for my new installation piece “Butterflies” for the 100-sqft exhibitions,
It taken 2.5 hours, but I done it, brought a clear bag, for the container aspect, but could get the writing off, so I’m back to finding a box frame, acrylic box or something, everything is so expensive and really need to try it out before buying it.
Short lived was the joy, woke up this morning with a sinking feeling, the work was all wrong, hated the bright colours of the butterflies from yesterday, didn’t say what I wanted to say, so today will fold 50 + more using reclaimed paper and use a single sheet of new Fabriano paper for the only white Butterfly .
The new butterflies are either 3 or 4 cms, hand cut, instead of the previously brought squares, making each one unique and special, also harder to fold because of the size.
