Project Objective
How can Japanese poetry structure become the structure of a non-written form of contemporary Sound Design?
Background
This project is influenced by the Artist’s interest in Japanese poetry especially Matsuo Basho, through a combination of sound design and visuals, to convey emotion and narrative, focusing on the early work of Music Producer and Arranger Quincy Jones.
Chris Watson’s “Owls” the afternoon Play, demonstrated how sounds could be layered to convey multiple narratives and create a feeling of a place.
The influence of Japanese literature, created a poetic pace in the films of Akira Kurosawa, thus they work on a both literal and symbolic level, like a Haiku or Renku.
Project Aims

Rational
Through a series of visual experiments based on my research, which will lead to developing a particular aesthetic style, form and narrative may lead to a sustained piece of work or a series of short pieces: it is possible that one literary form may be more captivating than others and lead to experimentation in only one form.
This project will allow me to spread my wings and fly solo, I intend to explore, experiment and redefine my practice through practical experimental.

This project is focuses on Sound design, Japanese poetry and experimental filmmaking, the overall aesthetic is the wabi –Sabi aesthetic, found in traditional Japanese Poetry and art.
I would like to use modern technology to explore Japanese poetry structure as means to introducing the various art forms to children as a form of Cultural enrichment.
I intend to keep an audiovisual journal, which will catalogue all my experiments, not just the end results.
Keep a record of all the word in progress and present a series of interviews to explain the process.
